These are the books that we have used for our ancient world lessons. I will try to keep this page up-to-date.
This book includes Prehistoric World, Ancient World, Medieval World, and The Last 500 Years. You can buy each period separately but it’s cheaper to buy the World History.
This book is also covered in World History. I almost bought this book thinking that it has more details than the ancient world section in the world history. But when I looked at the pages to compare two books, they were very similar. So, I decided not to buy it. However, this is published later than the Usborne World History so it might have some slight updates.
This book is written in narrative form. The illustrations are beautiful. My 7-year old daughter picked it up for a bedtime story.
I first read this story when I was a kid. It was one of the stories in my textbook. I still recall the illustration from my textbook. This version is a lot prettier. Kids these days are very lucky to have access to beautiful and colorful books.
I finally figured out how the Trojan Horse virus got its name after reading this book and where the saying beware of Greeks bearing gifts comes from.
This book is a retelling of Cyclops from Odysseus. This is a great introduction to Greek mythology. It’s long enough to be informative and entertaining and not too long that the kids lose interest. My kids, 4 and 7 find this entertaining.
